When you hear people talking about Cashflow 101 – you may be wondering what all the fuss is about.
If you’ve been thinking “how can playing a board game change my life?” then this may answer some of your questions:
  • It teaches you about life, relevant to your finances
  • There are 2 tracks on the game board, 1 is the rat race track, and 2 is the track for those who have escaped from the rat race.
  • Everyone starts in the rat race, going pay check to pay check – how familiar does that sound?!
  • Your first goal is to build your passive income which starts at zero for everybody and build it until it exceeds your monthly expenses.  Then you are financially free and move to the fast track where the big money flows – sounds like a great “real life” plan too :)
  • There are many occupations within the game, designed to mirror real life.  Each player has a profession which comes with a specific set of finances, income and expenses to suit that profession.
  • Surprisingly, a lower income profession like truck driver may be able to escape from the rat race much quicker than a higher income profession like the airline pilot.
  • This is because the airline pilot has massive expenses –big house, expensive schools, credit card debt etc.
  • The truck driver has lower income, but fewer expenses and with a few good deals can quickly build a good passive income that’s enough to cover those expenses….in that way creating personal financial freedom!
  • Being armed with the right financial knowledge is a great way to avoid winding up entrenched in debt
  • If debt’s where you are right now, gaining the right financial knowledge is your best ticket out!

What is Cashflow 101?

Rich Dad's Board GameReal World Investing in the Fun and Safety of a Game

I’ve been asking people for their definition of Cashflow 101 and this one’s from Yvonne at http://bit.ly/champers2 – thanks Yvonne!

“Cashflow is a fun board game that teaches us the things about money and investing that we weren’t taught at school or by our parents.

It addresses our psychology around money and allows us to breakthrough the sometimes limiting beliefs that we can’t be wealthy.

It shows us how working 9-5 will never make us wealthy, or even financially secure unless we have a wealth creation strategy running along side.

It highlights how saving isn’t enough – you’ve got to be investing.

All this in a fun, friendly and easy to understand way.”

All good points – and good reasons to get involved and join our club!

I’ve been thinking about doing my Income & Expenses updates and realised how uncomfortable I am with the word Expenses.  As words have vibrational power, I had a think for a while about a word I’d prefer to use.   The word I came up with was “Enjoyment” which may seem odd at first as how can we “enjoy” our expenses?!…..but I do enjoy the warmth that paying my gas bill gives me…………

To be honest, the words “Income and Expenses” just don’t fill me with joy.

Income’s OK, but Expenses? It brings up thoughts of pain and lack and not enough.

We all know that the words we use and the emotions they evoke can have great power and when used consciously, can create all kinds of wonderful realities in our lives.

So when thinking about updating my Income and Expenses records this morning, I felt the *YuK* feeling as soon as I thought about the Expenses bit.

My Mental Word Radar leapt into action and after some deliberation, I thought it would be fun to call it “Income and Enjoyment” updates.

“Don’t be daft!”

Scoffed the “rotter” voice in my head

“How can you ‘enjoy’ expenses?  Expenses are expensive, they’re bullying bills & pain and a burden that you’ve got to shut up and shoulder like the rest of us – it’s called living in the real world!”

(told you the voice was a rotter ;)

So, now way ahead of myself with this idea of transforming Expenses into Enjoyment, I thought of all the ways that I get enjoyment out of paying my expensise and here’s a short examples list:

  • I may not “enjoy” paying my mortgage, but I love the shelter and comfort that my home gives me
  • I may not “enjoy” paying my gas bill, but I love the warmth & cosiness from my central heating
  • I may not “enjoy” paying my car insurance, but I love the sense of security having that kind of back up gives me – and that I can rest easy knowing I’m fulfilling my legal car driver obligation – and I love the freedom and independence that driving my car gives me!

Thinking like this also made me feel incredibly grateful and blessed to have all these wonderful things in my life.

Of course the energy we give out and connect with things, attracts more of that same energy to us.  So instead of dragging myself kicking and screaming to sort out Income and Expenses – which instantly tightens in my throught and makes it feel (whether it’s true or not) as if the income’s never enough to cover the gaping greed of the expenses…

By changing the words,I’m changing the thoughts and changin the energy.  Creating a more powerful sense of abundance, allowing prosperity doors thoughout the Universe to swing open and welcome me in!

The more I’m feeling truly grateful for the goods and services that I’m blessed with as I update my enjoyment and get excited about the wonderful flow and expansion of my income…..the more I’m becoming a Magnet for all the good that I want to attract in my life J

So if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to have fun doing my Income and Enjoyment updates.

Do you fritter away time on unimportant things?

What is your time really worth:

- to you?

- to others?

Do you value yourself highly enough?  Taking into account all that you’ve accumulated throughout your life:

  • Your skills
  • Your time
  • Your experience
  • Your knowledge
  • Your contacts
  • Your achievements

When you value yourself and your time, others are more likely to recognise the value you’re giving them too, whether it’s at a personal or professional level.

It’s up to us to let others know what we are worth.

Send out the message that you value yourself and your skills and abilities will be better valued by others.

Having fun and valuing others is a great way to increase appreciation and value for yourself.

Enjoy!

Are you making the best use of your time?

Are you making the best use of your time?

Most business-owners don’t enjoy handling administrative tasks. We prefer to be brainstorming for that next big idea, executing our business plan, or out networking to build buzz. The good news is that there’s a simple way to handle repetitive tasks more efficiently and make more time for the fun stuff.

It’s called batching.
Basically, batching allows you to carve out a chunk of time and plough through a bunch of similar tasks at once. Once you get into the groove with a certain task, you’ll usually notice that you become more efficient, but you’ll lose that momentum if you switch gears too often and keeping starting different projects.
Here are five areas where batching makes sense.
1.    Email. Some productivity experts recommend that you turn off email notifiers, check email just a few times per day, and alert important contacts so they’ll know when to expect a response. That way you won’t get sidetracked each time a new message pops up. Even if

I’ve been a member of The Money Gym

The Money Gym Silver Elite
The Money Gym Silver Elite

for a very long time now, and yet for years I hovered in the background – too timid even to join in their lively email discussion group. Now I’m finally taking action, setting and fulfilling goals and visions at a right old rate.

What, you might ask, has changed?

In April, I took part in their Silver Elite programme.  I turned up at every call, I did my homework and I took action.  And you know what?  It’s been as if  there’s nothing stopping me ever since!

When I trained as a therapist in 2002, one of the key things we were taught to remember at every session was to “get yourself out of the way” so your personal thoughts, feelings, beliefs, who you argued with at breakfast….. are not impacting on the service that you’re giving your client.

The idea being that you’re totally focused on what’s important to them, how you can help them in a way that’s significant to them.

Applying this to wealth creation, we can be shown how to make money over and over again, but until we “get ourselves out of the way”, address our beliefs, behaviours and attitudes, nothing’s really going to change.

Recently, on the Money Gym email discussion group, I was described as “an inspiration” when I was sharing some of my recent successes.  Now while it felt phenomenal to be referred to like that, I did think “that’s great, but I’m really quite ordinary”.

Then of course, I realised that one of the Money Gym taglines was: “Ordinary people doing Extraordinary things” – roll on the Extra Ordinary, this ordinary girl’s ready for you now!

If you are, look no further as The Money Gym are starting their next Silver Elite programme very soon and I fully recommend it to anyone who’s serious about increasing their Net Worth, Residual Income, Starting or Growing a Business or just looking for an alternative to living pay cheque to pay cheque.
